Asian cats are outgoing, affectionate, and highly sociable — traits inherited from their Burmese ancestry. They form deep bonds with their families and dislike being left alone for long periods. They are playful and active throughout their lives, enjoying interactive games and puzzle toys. Highly intelligent, they can learn tricks and respond to their names. They are vocal cats that enjoy "chatting" with their owners in soft, melodic tones. Their friendly, confident nature makes them excellent companions in multi-pet households. They are patient with children and welcoming to visitors.

Personality
Features
Asian cats are medium-sized with the elegant, muscular body of the Burmese. They have a gently rounded head, wide-set ears, and large, expressive eyes that range from gold to green depending on the variety. The short coat is fine, silky, and lies close to the body (except the Tiffanie, which has semi-long hair). The breed group encompasses a remarkable range of colors and patterns while maintaining the distinctive Burmese body shape. Their legs are slender but strong, and the tail is medium-length, tapering to a rounded tip.
History
The Asian cat group was born in 1981 in the United Kingdom when Baroness Miranda von Kirchberg's Burmese female accidentally mated with a Chinchilla Persian male. The resulting kittens — Burmese in build but silver-shaded in color — were so striking that a deliberate breeding program was established. The group encompasses several varieties: the Burmilla (shaded/tipped), Asian Self (solid colors), Asian Smoke, Asian Tabby, and Tiffanie (semi-longhair). The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF) recognized the Asian group progressively throughout the 1990s and 2000s. The breed has a dedicated following in the UK, Europe, and Australia.
